Our Sacred Inipi Workshop at Willunga last weekend
Last weekend we held our the last lodge of the Sacred Inipi Workshop at Willunga. It had been 4 years since we'd gathered together in the Lodge. Cheryl White and her partner Mark Cockburn, who run the Paint Soul Gallery, were kind enough to allow us to use their property for the duration of the workshop.
We had spent the previous few weeks gathering the materials we needed including organising the fire wood, Nonie and I even bought new drums. The last thing to do was met at our usual place to seek the sticks to build the Lodge.
We had a great time out in the forest, and after exchanging our offerings, brought them back to our Site. As we built the structure of the Lodge with the sticks we had gathered, it started to fine tune us to where it needed us to be ; ..with reverence and respect.
The next day, from early morning we began the journey of building the Lodge, the Fire and our connection to it and each other. We made our Prayer Ties, and Robes to hang in the Lodge to honour the 4 Directions, Father Sky and Mother Earth. Finally, as the afternoon drew on, the Lodge was ready for us. ..and the Fire and Rocks (the Stone People), were ready to share their Spirits with us. David and Harley had done a great job with the fire and now, The time was right.
We lined up..smudged away our "rust" and one by one, foreheads to the damp, cool, earth ..we entered the Lodge. We each had our own powerful experience of surrendering to the Lodge and our own relationship with it, but for us all, transformation and realisations occured. that has changed the way we see ourselves and our lives.
Because the Fire Ban season is upon us now, we will have to wait until next May before we can have our next Sacred Inipi Workshop. I am missing it already and looking forward to being in that powerful space again and sharing it with others.
Ho!
